Perspectives on the Media Literacy in the Czech Republic

The bachelor thesis consists of two parts. A theoretical part that explains the terms used to implement the work and describes its theoretical basis, and a practical part in the form of written interviews with respondents from the field of media education. The theoretical part introduces the interview genre and describes its possible methods, approximates the requirements of media education contained in the framework educational programs and recommended expected outputs, and presents projects focused on media literacy. The practical part of the work consists of interviews with Přemysl Danda, PhDr. Jan Jirák Ph.D., Michal Kaderka and PhDr. Radim Wolák.
Analysis of multiplication methods and their application to teaching aids

The aim of the dissertation is to analyse various methods of multiplication. Present and historical methods of multiplication will be included in analysis. Each method will be described and then they will be compared together. Based on some selected methods didactic aids will be created to support the teaching of mathematics. Curriculum framework and its fulfilment in common and extended music education

The diploma thesis focuses on the school subject "Music class" in its common conception and on the teaching of Music classes with extended learning (further on MCEL) at the second level of primary schools from the perspective of the Framework Educational Programme for Primary Education (further on FEPPE). The thesis contains theoretical knowledge about curriculum documents for education and about the requirements of the FEPPE for teaching Music classes. In the following chapters, the thesis deals with the documents that relate to the teaching of regular Music classes and to the teaching of Music classes with extended time allotment. The differences between these two conceptions of Music classes are pointed out in this diploma theses. The thesis presents a part of the School Curriculum of a particular school where Music classes with extended time allotment are taught. Based on an interview with a teacher of MCEL, the thesis provides findings from the overall organisation of the subject.
Indicators of educational results in chemistry teaching of the Czech Republic

This thesis focuses on the indicators of quality of education. The indicators are learning exercises the aim of which is to prove whether the tested pupils reached the level of knowledge defined by the national curriculum and listed in the Framework Education Programme. While learning Chemistry, the students should master the key competencies and educational objectives from the education area "Man and Nature" and further from the subject of Chemistry. The thesis focuses on the evidence of reaching the educational goals in Chemistry within the scope of General Chemistry. Since the level of knowledge defined by the Framework Education Programme is not very specific, the author of this thesis decided to settle the educational goals for the subject of General Chemistry based on the study of expert literature and curricular documents. Furthermore, the author also suggests a system of indicators which can be used to verify reaching these goals by the pupils of the secondary schools. The thesis also includes one of the models of working with such indicators. The indicator system was first assessed by a focus group (Chemistry teachers and experts in Didactics of Chemistry). Analýza učebnic matematiky pro střední školy zabývající se vybranými funkcemi

The aim of this thesis is to compare selected mathematics textbooks that deal with fundamental functions at secondary school level. Textbooks will be examined on the base of Framework Education Programme for Grammar school, whether they fulfil requirements for teaching a given area of mathematics. Analysis of range of each textbook will be realized by the Indicator of curriculum uniformity. By measuring the didactic equipment of textbooks, the textbooks will be analysed and evaluated quantitatively. The benefits of such work will be evaluation of textbooks construction pointing to their quality.
Attitude of teachers to the new curriculum reform

Diploma thesis is designed as quantitative research study. The aim is to find out the opinion and attitude of teachers from Czech primary schools concerning the new curriculum reform, which has officially come into use in the form of Framework Educational Program in 2005. The new system of curriculum documents replaces the former educational programs based on centrally imposed curriculum and thus broadens the autonomy of teachers and school institutions, who were assigned to prepare their own school educational program. Besides the changes both in the main objectives of primary education and to some extend in the educational content, there has also been a shift in the role and expectations related to the teacher profession. The main purpose of the study is to find out and describe teacher's prevailing opinion of such change in the educational concept and its benefits at the level of compulsory education. Another aim is to present, how teachers perceive the barriers and inner motivations related to these reform changes in schools, and how these barriers affect the overall attitude towards the reform. In the theoretical part, first of all, I am mapping out the framework education programs for pre-school and basic education and the charakterizuji environmental education and its interconnections with practical activities. The aim of the practical part of the drafting and realisation of a minor part of the project, focusing on environmental education. The project was primarily to provide children the opportunity to get acquainted with some methods such as observation, the use of the results for other activities, exploring the connection between different phenomena in nature, get to know the environment in which they live and to obtain a positive relationship to him. Overall, it was aimed to promote the development of the child as a personality-oriented proenvironmentaly. Education through the Geography in Curricular Reformation Period of Czech Education System: Reflection of the Changes at Selected Prague's Grammar Schools

The thesis, as the title suggests, focuses on education of Geography and analysis of Geography as a subject at Prague grammar schools. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the impact of curricular changes on teaching Geography. Furthermore, the thesis is to analyze the ideas of the Geography teachers on teaching methods and content taught to students in their lessons. The work also evaluates the variety of opinions of the pedagogues concerning this topic. It also discusses their different views on a new form of the state leaving exam. Moreover, it looks for the answer whether the new exam might change the methodology of Geography. This work is mainly based on a critical evaluation of expert materials as far as the school reform is concerned. The empirical part itself consists of the survey results and the assessment of directed interviews with 11 respondents, who are the Geography teachers at nine Prague grammar schools.
Activating methods and forms in teaching of natural science

The theme and scope of submitted thesis is "Activating methods and forms in teaching of natural sciences" then followed with regard to the author's certification in chemistry and biology. The thesis is solved in conformity with requirements of the Framework Educational Programme, especially the change of the teaching style in schools. The thesis is written down with respect of a natural continuation of previous work of the author - diploma thesis dealt with project teaching and rigorous thesis was focused on cooperative activities. With regard to the objectives of submitted work the design of the research project is divided into two component parts: a questionnaire survey and a video study.
